Hello From Everywhere ) ) )

Hello and thanks for visiting The Drift’s new site!  We will be updating periodically with news and updates related to our goings-on so please check back from time to time….

First off, we are super excited to announce that we’ve recorded and mixed a new album’s worth of material that is slated for a Fall release!!!  We are currently writing as a three-piece consisting of myself (guitar/keys), Trevor Montgomery (electric bass), and Rich Douthit (drums) – all of which founded this band way back in 2002.  We recorded again with our friend and extraordinarily talented engineer Jay Pellicci (Om, Deerhoof, etc.) at Tiny Telephone studios in San Francisco.  We look very much forward to sharing the new material with you!  Lot’s more details to come, but for now I can say that is a record we are very proud of making.

As many of you may know, our dear friend and long-time collaborator Jeff Jacobs (trumpet, flugel horn, fx)  has departed us, having succumbed early this year to a long and very courageous battle with cancer.  He was and remains to be an integral force in the bands development.  The amount of passion and energy he gave to music and to the life of this band was paramount.  We will miss him beyond what words can express.  His light will no-doubt continue to shine on.  The recording’s we made are in dedication to him, his radiance as an artist, and to the testament of music.  May you rest in peace dear friend.  Please visit this lovely memorial site his sister Erika Jacobs put together in his honor.  His life is to be celebrated.

Thanks again for visiting and for your continuing support of our music.  More to come ) )

Much Love,

Danny | The Drift
